my pass side headlamp light is dim, the blue icon for "highbeams" always stays on. I've been told it's a bad ground wire. I'm not very good with eletrical components. any help for a complete idiot? |

Damien, I use to have a dim passenger side headlamp. I checked all the wires and it was a bad ground. I ended up cutting the ground wire and ran a new ground to a point on the body. That was about 1 1/2 years ago and havent had a problem since. It sure is a cheapbastard way to go about it but it works. Dan |

I am reffering to the wires on the plug that the bulb goes into in your headlamp. I think there are 5 wires coming from the back of that thing. One of those is the ground wire, I think the black wire but I could be wrong, its been a long time. What I did was splice into the wire by cutting off the plastic sheating on the wire. Conect a lenght of wire to the stock ground. Touch the wire to the ground terminal on the battery with the headlamps turned on. On my truck when I did this the headlamp instintly got much brighter, take wire off battery and headlamp gets dim again. I had to try like 3 of the wires before I finally got the right one. When I got the right one I cut that wire and grounded it to the body. Again, this is the getto fabulous way of fixing the problem, but it worked for me. Just open the hood and look at the back of your passenger headlamp, its one of those wires. If your problem has nothing to do with a bad ground on the bulb none of this will help. But it sounds exactly like what was wrong with my truck. Hope this helps. Dan |

i had the same issue, the light would dim and the hi beam indicator would ghost on, the best cure is an ARB wire loom. replaces the weak ass mess and allows for higher output lamps. EE sales the kit. imho mike w |
