Is replacing 94 disco head gaskets a big job or not?

Guess it depends what you call a big job. I replaced the head gaskets on my 88RRC and It was the most extensive repair I've made on a vehicle. You need a clean area, good set of tools (including torque wrench), workshop manual and a place to store and label everything that comes out. It took me two complete weekends. One weekend to remove the heads, the valves were machined during the week and I reassembled the following week. A good shade tree can do it, but plan on investing some time.

Depends on where you live, but I would imagine $1500 to $2000.

If you have to ask, you should probably have someone else do it. I've done it twice. First time; no problem. Second time; it got ugly.

Good luck.

Wayne, I just check on the same thing at LR. They want $1700 for the job. The shop man. reccomends it as a 11 hour job with about $400 in parts. I also got an estimate at a local shop for $1300. Luckly I did not need them done afterall. As far as it being difficult. Not really. It is just an issue of time, space, tools, etc.. You have to take off the top half of the engine.
