On my 97 Discovery SE the parking, running, and dash lights are not functioning. When the headlights are turned on the main beams function but none of the running lights, or the above-mentioned lights work. Im thinking that this might be the headlight / turn signal switch but Id prefer not spend the money on one if its not potentially the issue. Recent possibly related vehicle changes: Added ARB bull bar with new front parking lights (3 months before failure) Had a trailer tire blow smashing running lights on the trailer while connected to the Rover (1 week before failure) Had the dash lights die and come back, not sure if the running lights died as well due to brevity of event (2 days before failure) Any ideas on this? All of the fuses in the under hood fuse compartment as well as the compartment under the steering column show continuity. Thanks in advance, -Kris |

Possibly a blown bulb somewhere which doesn't complete a circuit... Anyone else? Good Luck, W2 99D1 |

I had the same problem my headlight turn signal switch went bad. The contact panel wore out. Try turning it just slightly back from full on on your main beams and see if the dash lights show up again. Jim |

It is your headlight switch. Really easy to fix/replace. I would try removing the switch and cleaning the connections first. If that doesn't work, buy one from someone who is parting out and change them. Until then, remember- Rear fog light are your friend! |

I just had the same problem. My fog light wiring was shorting out causing the fuse to blow. The fuse is in the box under the hood (20A). I had just replaced the fog light bulbs a week prior. I had to rebuild my fog lamps (the inner rivets rusted) and clean up the conacts. I also reinsulated the wires inside the lamps with 3M electrical tape. So in "short" I would check all lighting fixtures related to any recent events and check for fouled wiring. Good luck, Jim |

I had a problem with the dash lights and the R/H back tail lights not working due to a fuse blown. Brake light turn singless worked fine. The fault was found after about 10 fuses, to be the light assembly in the glove box, loose. The light assembly would drop down an 1/8 of an inch allowing the terminals to contact the metal frame of the dash. This problem went on for months with every thing working fine till, a bump in the road would set it of. 97 Disco. Solution wrap the metal edge with pvc tape and the terminals of the light assembly. |
