 rigging up something to replace my fuel filter with and i'm using 2 small pieces of rubber hosing on the 2 ends of the filter. the box says... 'not recommended for fuel injected engines'  however, is this okay?

 dip them in gas. Come back in the morning and see if the gas is the same color as the rubber you are using. If so dont use them. I used rubber for a gas tank breather line once. It did not last long.

 The correct type of rubber hose is fine for fuel line - you will see two types at your average autoparts store - fuel line for carbureated engines and another type for fuel injected - they are both rubber with nitrile tubes, but rated for different working pressures - you'll need the fuel injected style suitable for higher workling pressure.
 
 Just don't use heater hose or vacuum tubing or anything that does not say rated for fuel use.

 Bill so kindly pointed me in the right direction recently.  Goodyear makes a yellow hose called 'Gorilla hose' or some such thing.  It is safe to use inside your fuel tank for the fuel pump, etc...it is fuel safe for both the liner and the jacket of the hose.
