I found some threads related, but specifically - I went off road and shifted into Low within the last two weeks with no problems. Now I can't get it to shift at all...I mean I've tried Drive-N-shift, Reverse-N-shift, moving and shifting, I've followed the book and the sticker on the dash. Mine has at times been tough, but it usually goes into gear after a few tries. I read about a "frozen" gear box - what exactly has happened? Why would it freeze after a couple of weeks? What causes a freeze? Thanks in Advance. P.S. I don't work on my own vehicle, it's all done by LR mechanics...the expensive way! |

Update: I went to clean off the mud, and while on the pavement, it shifted into low with no problem! Go figure... |

Yo man, Sometimes it's gonna be hard, or even impossible (for some people) to shift ranges without rolling about a bit. I always roll at about 5mph when I do it; makes the whole process easier. I highly recommend you get to know your truck a little better, servicing and such, because life can throw nasty curves at you and after a few thousand dollar service reciepts you'll have given up. I try to do anything non schedualed myself, so long as it dosn't affect the warrenty. If you get stuck, theres pleanty of help on this board. Cheers, Kennith |

Thanks Kennith, It finally occurred to me to actually look for a discussion board! I'm having absolutely no luck selling this vehicle in this economy, and if I'm going to have to keep it, I will have to learn to do some maintenance. My wife wants to quit working and get a minivan for the baby - I don't know, I took the baby off-road one afternoon and he loved it. Oh well... Also, I found a great way to stop my brake warning light to stop flashing - I topped off the brake fluid! Thanks Again, Kenny |
