Hey guys - I have searched the threads on this topic but haven't really found what I need to know. I am running 16" rims with GY MTRs on the trails and 18" rims with stock 255/55 Wrangler HPs on road. With my OME lift, the low profile tires look dinky on the truck. Any suggestions for a decent on road tire that comes in a bit larger sidewall size that will look more suitable on the truck? The pics below shows the type of clearance I have available. |

Toyo open country 285/60R18 fit great. We've put them on two DII with no problems except for having to trim the lowest corner of the stock bumper. To fit it on the spare tire carrier it does have to be moved up though. |

Anyone have any opinions on the Yokohama Geolander H/T-S series tires? Looks like they make a 265/60 R18 tire. Jim - I am worried about the size of the BFG - Seem awful big at 32.8 inch diameter. Anyone know of any pics with these size tires fitted on 18 inch rims I can get a look at? Jay |

Jason, I'm also going to replace my POS Goodyear HPs with Yokos. I'm torn between the stock 18" rim size and the 265/60R18. Take a look at the tire size calculater attached and see what it does to the speedometer. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Would you recalibrate your speedometer or leave it as is? In addition, would the 265/60R18 size rub when turning? How many miles did you get out of the GY HPs? At 35000 miles, mine are scalloping and cupping really bad, especially the back. The GY are also very loud at around 65-70 mph. Gerry |

If I remember correctly you can not recalibrate you Speedometer. At least that is what the dealer told me. |

Jason, I think Kent has the right idea on tire sizes. The 285/60-18 is about 31.5" diameter, which is close to your off road tires. Search the size at Tire Rack and you will come up with 11 choices from Khumos at $108/ea to Michelins at $216/ea. Good Luck, Rich |
