recently the SRS light has come on and stays on. No wrecks or messing with the airbag systems. Doe sthis just come on at a set date/mileage for check up? I have a 94 with 264,000 miles. |

Not that I'm aware of but the air bags were designed to be replaced after 10 years. Sounds like your bag is 10 years old (or close to it) but that shouldn't trigger the SRS light. |

The comment about 10 years and air bags is in your owner's manual. I'm more surprised at the air bag system lasting for the 264,000 miles! I wonder if the ABS still works. Jake, have you recently replaced the battery or done anything else with this vehicle? |

ABS still works, no recent power loss, battery change, etc. Wiper motor went south at about the same time, but I dont see a connection there. I am getting a little trepadacious regarding a 10 year old explosive device close to my face, but not sure what to do about that. I will not pay what I can only imagine what a new set of bags would cost. maybe I could "retrograde" to a Euro pre airbag dash & wheel. |

I would get a hold of the dealer and find out a way you can disconnect the SRS system either with a fuse or something else until you get it checked out. The only problem there is if you get into an accident the system will not respond, but if the airbags pop out when your driving that could lead to a bigger accident. |
