Christo,

on a stock D1, the only jack point for a hi-lift you have is the hitch receiver.

you can get a skidplate for the front that will work with a jack all, if i am not mistaken. I think they have them at atlantic british, it is a terrain master one. Someone tell me if i am right or wrong.

Some have claimed that they can use the wheel, but, not on my Disco.... :-)

Gotta go with aftermarket bumpers and sliders to really make a hi-lift more practical for true lifting. Can be used as a come-along, but, after doing that once, you'll want a winch... which, will be the perfect opportunity to get that aftermarket bumper.....

Les,

it was actually me who claimed it (maybe someone else), and I'd do it again with no hesitation. But, if somebody has to ask this question, the answer is... actually, i backtrack. hitch receiver is also a tricky place to use a hi-lift.

Peter, you're right... it's doable from the rear receiver, but, there's a liability in suggesting that someone use it....

I look at it this way.... I'm a lazy butt, but if my wife decided that she was gonna use the jack to lift her Disco, then, would I be comfortable with her doing it, or would I bother to get up and go do it for her? If I thought that there's not any likelihood of her getting hurt, then I'd let her go ahead. With a wheel, or the receiver, I might use it myself, but I wouldn't let her, so, no, I can't in good conscience suggest to someone else to do the same.

FWIW....
