OK - So the check engine light (yellow) came on for about a week and then went away? Whats up with this? No - the bulb is not burned out because I see it light up on ignition. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help! |

Enough drive cycles have taken place without the cause of the light re-ocurring. I had an intermittently bad spark plug wire on cylinder one. When the truck misfired, the light would go on and stay on even if the truck subsequently ran smooth. Then sometime after, as long as there was no more mis-firing, the light would go off by itself. If the misfiring returned, it would go on. The computer stores the code, so when I got the code read, and replaced the wire as a result, the misfire was solved, and the check engine light has not gone on again. |

Interesting that the computer stores the code. Will the code still be stored if the battery is disconnected after the light came on? Mine came on about a week ago. I disconnected the battery to install some lights and when I reconnected the terminals, the light was off - and has not come back on yet. Jay |
