has anyone have the same problem as I. I'm starting to notice that rust is coming up at the rear door fenders. big problem but can be fixed. it's just strange that rust can be coming up when the inner fender is completely sealed off. |

Do you mean around the seatbelt bolt or pillars? |

That's pretty common. I had mine fixed under warranty last year. If your truck still has warranty on it, take it into the dealer and show them. They should fix it. |

I'm starting to see the barest hint of rust around my alpine windows. My truck only has a few months left of corrision warranty. I would have taken it in a already but I've got a roof rack with a lot of stuff on including lights which would make removal very difficult. Am I being obstinate for no reason? How serious is the alpine rust? thanks and happy trails |

I think anytime you can get stuff done for free, you should do it so in my opinion, you should take advantage of the corrosion warranty if you still have it.

Unfortunately I just figured out I'm actually out of the corrosion warranty. 6 years from the date of purchase, but not being the original owner I didn't know it was purhcased in feb 97. So hear I am with minimul rust around the bottom corner of the alpine window. How do I treat/contain this? thanks and happy trails. |

Yeah, get on it Jerry. I'm the third owner of a 96 and got it in just under the wire for corrosion repairs. There was a couple spots bubbling up just above the windscreen (probably a leak at one of the roof rack mounts), rusty cargo door hinges and other minor spots. All LR wanted was some pics to confirm they weren't stone chip damage and they fixed 'er up. The pics were taken and forwarded by the repair shop and they dealt with LR. Took a little while and I had to stay on them but they came through. |

Hi all. New guy here...am I to understand that Disco's are not Aluminium?!? I am looking at buying one, It will be a secondary/winter vehicle here in Utah, where they salt the roads, Is this going to be a problem?, I do run my truck through the car wash every week durring the winter to get rid on salt and the like. Any information or hints on the subject would be great! BTW the rig im looking at is a 94-95 Disco V8i it has the "four wheeler of the year" sticker in the rear side windows. Thanks again for the info. Brian |

some of the disco is alluminum , some is steel.. the really common rust spots on discos are where the rear door wheel wells meet the pillars as this is where steel is joining alluminum, and under both of the front wings behind the skins. Alpine windows, and rear door hinges can be quite common as well. Its not very hard to fix this stuff yourself as well if you are out of warranty.. Just get LR to do the paint or throw you a touch up kit. Basicly wire brush or sand the rust down till you get basicly clean and shiny metal, then treat it with Hylomar or seam sealer or equivalent rust proofing. Then paint if it needs painting.
