Hey i found some guy selling a hardly used (10k miles) set of stock shocks and springs off his 2001 D2, selling em real cheap. I know it'd be great to upgrade to OMEs or Bilsteins but right now im a bit strapped for cash, and my old stock shocks are all leaking and basically useless. I dont want to have to wait months until i can afford new shocks to take my rover anywhere that isn't smooth pavement, and i certainly don't want to screw up anything else by driving around on crapped out shocks. So someone tell me these will fit, and that it's an acceptable stop gap replacement of my old tired stocks.

If things are that tight, seems to me that spending money on worn stuff then spending more to but new stuff results in more money being spent than you would have initially.
Why not start by replacing say the rear shocks with OME or Bilsteins. Those are easy shadetree mechanic diy jobs. Then when Money is better you can get the fronts which are more complicated to install.
Looks to me that the shocks are different specs between the two vehicles based on what is shown on EE.

Chris,

You have a good point, i am really just thinking short term fix here. I could get the d2 set for 50 bucks.

The D2 springs are shorter than the D1 springs. The shocks won't fit either. But D1 springs work well in a D2 if you want more lift than advertised. So for $50 you would have useless shocks and springs that will give your D1 that bling bling low rider look.

OK thats strike 2 on my low-end idea. I'll probably take chris's idea and redo the rear end shocks and springs first then I'll tackel the front. I know it's never a good idea to cheap out. Spend the money, when you got it, and go with qulity product. This will be my new montra.

Jason,

The shocks or steering damper won't work but the springs might. Check your friend's spring numbers.

John, He said they were stock springs so it won't matter what stock springs he has. If he uses stock D2 springs in a D1 he'll be riding lower than a stock D1.
