I am about to purchase and build an early disco 1 and need some help. The only problem is I don't want to run a 2" lift with some 32" tires. I am wanting to run between a 35 to 38" tire. Are their any companies that make a 5 or more inch lift for discoveries? Also do any companies make 2 or 3" body lifts for them? I know I will still have to do some big fender triming. But I am not real concerned since it will be used 90% of the time off road. Any help that any of you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

www.rovertym.com they make 5 inch spring, plus they make body lifts. You could go to www.safarigard.com and look at their suspentions also. Their coilover, which are pretty cool. Hope that helps.

Barrett:
If you're gonna go with tires that big, add some new axles to your wish list as your axles ain't gonna like turning them big meats. You're also gonna need some taller gears if you expect to be able to drive over 40 mph. Better look for some longfielded CVs too while you're at it.

If you are serious, John at Rovertym is driving a Disco with a 5" lift. He's a good guy who will help you out lots, even if you don't buy much from him.

You could also go for spacers. John I have heard is helpful, but wasn't really with me, but oh well.

Great Rovertym looks like it is going to be a great help during this project. I also though I might need some spacers especially if I decide to go with a 38. I hope I am not geting in over my head. Oh well.

If you are going to go with 38" tires, you'd better be planning on the Dana 60 conversion like Adam Way did on his Rangie cause the Rover axles ain't gonna stand up to that abuse for long.

I will look into a Dana 60. But I have a philosophy of run it until it breaks then build it better. I never said it was a good idea to build a vehicle like that just the way I have always done it.

If I were you and wanted around a 37's I would do 5 inch springs, with 2 inch spacers and two inch body lift. That's the easy part. You'll need to worry about every other aspect of the rover breaking. I believe Rovertym has been sold to Steve and John was running 7 inches of lift. Steve will help just as much as John.

I talked to a guy that was on 37 MTRs it looked good. I dont know all his particulars I think he might have had 4 75 gears tho. It can be done.

Im running 35" and so far so good. Stock cv and ft axles and stock gears. I really expected teh gears to be more of a problem than they are. I can live with it and I think that is why I havn't broken the cv yet. I used to break them all the time with 265/75.

I am about 4" and some cutting. You can see the angles that my drivelines are up against and I would say that if you have a rotoflex you will HAVE to change that out. So far I have moderate vies.

The big question is what type of trails are you running?

It is FAR less costing and FAR better wheeled if you go this route:
2" suspension (OME 540$) + 2" body lift (RTE 215$)+ flares (Rangie Spares 460$) = 1215. This does NOT require ANY drivetrain enhancements, your COG is SO LOW you'll be amazed, and you can slap in 35-38 (depending on the amount of uptravel you want, tire width, wheel offset...).

After having a 4-5" suspension lift for 4 years, I am far happier with the above recommended set-up.

Good luck.

Milan,
Currently have the 2" OME, 2" RTE Body Lift, Rangie Spares Flares. Planing on slapping some 36 SX (when they arrive to Lebanon).
