My '95 Disco has developed a rather vexing electrical problem (intermittent of course). The first sympton was that the cruise control would not work when the headlights were switched on. A quick look at the back of the rig showed that the brake lights were illuminated when the parking and/or headlights were switched on. After a bit of pushing this and testing that, I discovered that pressing the brake pedal and turning the lights on results in all the dash lights illuminating (warning, abs, brake, oil pressure, etc. and the fuel pump starts up as well). This is without the key in the ignition. Being a rash fellow, I started up the the disco, turned on the headlights, pushed the brake pedal and then removed the key from the ignition, and the car did not shut off! A real Lucas Miracle! A Rover that won't die! Anyhow, I looked through the haynes manual and the electrical troubleshooting guide someone was kind enough to make available here a while back, but cannot see where I'd get a short or something that would bridge the braking ciruit, the ignition circuit and the parking lights/headlamp circuit. Any ideas? Please????? |
