I was just curious if anyone had any opinions as to which company's "smokers vents" to order for my Disco Series II. By smokers vents I mean the four window vents that enable a person to roll there window down part way without letting water in. I was looking at the one's in Atlantic British's magazine. The ones from AB say they attach to vehicle in a fashion I am not familiar with. I wanted to make, sure before I ordered, that these vents were not junk and or would not fall off any time soon. If you know of any better vents for the disco let me know.

Thanks

Yes:

I am referring to the wind deflectors for windows. I could not remember what they were called in the Atlantic British catalogue so I just called them what I could remember.

They are on sale right now at AB. Don't know if you have the sale catalog or not. Still expensive, but not AS expensive. I'd like to know opinions, too, before I buy a set. It rains a lot here, and I like to keep my windows cracked a little while I am at work.

I have the AB deflectors on both the Disco and the Freelander. They work great, and are relatively simple to install. They have a lip on them that goes into the window channel. It's a pretty tight fit, so they are not going to go anywhere, and they also keep wind noise down when the window is cracked open.. They are made by some german company, I forget the name.

I had the on my Explorer and was very impressed. I was very happy with the difference in the amount of wind noise and amount of wind that actually entered the car while it was at highway speed.

OK, so the verdict is that the wind deflectors from AB work well and stay put. Thank y'all very much for your assistance with my first post on this board. I hope I can be of assistance to y'all sometime.

Chris,

I fitted "ClimAir" deflectors to my Disco, they just slot in between the window frame and the furry/rubber bit that the windo seats into, no screws, rivets or glue required.. The window has to be all the way down when you fit them, and you can't get them out with the window just cracked open enough for ventilation. They are well worth having.

I have the original LR slimline wind deflectors.
these ones are only small but still allow the window to be opened for fresh air in the rain.
Fitted on with a double sided strip that came with them.
They have been caught on branches and had small children try and hang off them but they have stayed put and work great.

the ones I had used 3M tape. You rolled down the window, put the wind deflector into the window jam, pulled off the tape "cover" and rolled the window up so it could set properly. The only problem I had was with one of the back windows that seemed to loose its stickyness and whenever I rolled the window up, it would hit the vent. Nothing big though.
