My 94 Disco has developed an annoying metallic rattle behind the rectangular trim panel on the passenger side of the dash. It sounds as if something has come adrift & is lying against the plastic, if I give the panel a bit of a thump the noise goes away for a while but returns soon enough. Has anyone any idea how to remove the panel? I can pry one corner open slightly but can't see any clips to undo & don't want to break anything by getting too enthusiastic. By the way I have had heaps of problems with idle/rough running etc. It turned out the main offender was the connector on the MAF, the pins would come loose and it would run like a dog. Pull the connector and gently squeeze the female connector pins together with fine tweezers, reseat the connector & life is good again. Despite some others' recent unfortunate comments, the board is a veritable font of knowledge, the contributors do a great job. |

I'm not sure about the passenger side, but the trim on the driver's side is bolted through the dash with two bolts. If you remove the glove box, I'm sure that you can get access to the bolts on the back. I'll look tonight when I get home (my glove box is already out!). It takes about a couple of minutes to remove the glove box. Thanks, Mike B. |

Thanks Mike, my model doesn't have a glove box, just the panel at about the height of the passengers' knees. I think it may be covering part of the aircon system, so there isn't much room to get up behind the area. Thanks again for responding, Ewan |
