hey Bugboy, if you have already seen this link: http://www.discoweb.org/reset/index.htm and have a NAS 98 Discovery, then there should be no difference? if there is, maybe you can take a pic and post it? |

Bugboy, I have a 98 D1 and the pics/discription did not work for me. The orange box is further back in the passenger kickpanel and you can't poke a hole in the center to reset. You also can't take it apart and bridge the prongs, there are three of them and none would reset it. I just took mine out, unplugged it, and plugged it back in. That reset it. |

thanks for the response Chad. don't want to be a hassle but can you give me a description of how you did it and which one you took apart; also, got any pics of that? |

Not sure if this helps, but on my '97 it has the three prongs on it, and I could not get it to reset either (at least not the way discribed in the Tech section). What I did was take the box apart being careful not to break the box. Then I plugged it back in and started the engine, with unit apart. Then I jumped the two prongs that acually connect to something (easy to see). This reset the service engine light. |

Take off the passenger kick panel. It is the dingy orange box in the upper left hand corner. It is under a ton of other wiring. If you grab it and pull up on it, it will release from the truck. You can then pull it out with the wires still attached. Then pull the harness out and start the truck. The service engine light will be out. Plug it back in. The light should stay out. To replace it, just slide it down onto the mounting clips in the kick panel. |
