I'm toying with the idea of doing the black out hood on my Disco and was just wondering if anyone can post or e-mail me a picture of thier Green Disco with the black out hood. Thanks

Here are some pictures of my original hood black out decal.

I just repainted it earlier this year and it looks a bit nicer than the decal and I think is even less reflective than the decal. I havent taken a picture of the Disco in a long time so I dont have one handy. But if you shoot me an email today and remind me, I will take one of it tonight should you want more pictures.

John Viggs also makes them and from what I have heard, seen to be more durable than the LR ones. I dont have his website address handy but hopefully someone else who knows it off hand will post it.

Gil Stevens also has a green Disco with a hood blackout. He used the adhesive though and said it wasn't looking too good anymore.

I've looked into it as well and 3M makes an adhesive too that supposedly has a 7 year shelf life.

Spray-in bedliner. $7.95 a can. Just use masking tape to tape off the bend in the hood and spray it. Oh...make sure to cover up the rest of your truck (other parts of the hood, windscreen, etc.) with newspaper or something to make sure they don't catch any blowback. It looks great AND it's functional. I did this to my hood as well as the lower 1/3 of my door panels and the arches over the wheelwells.

Take the hood off the vehicle to paint. Then there are no issues with drips or over spray.

I took the hood off mine too. I would do this without question.

Martin-Senour makes a black sealer you can spray on...it lasts forever and looks great meanwhile the over spray is minimal. Just have to make sure the fenders, windshield and door glass is covered. Absolutely no need to take the hood off.
