My 97 Disco has had an oil leak since I bought it from a private party. They said it was a rear seal leak. They were'nt really sure. I noticed when I looked under my hood today that I found oil up in the intake manifold valley--it was leaking forward to the front of the engine and leaking down. I suspect valve cover gaskets leaking down into valley. What do you think? Any solutions. Paul are you out there???

How many miles on engine? Possibly the Valley Pan Gasket... I had a small oil/coolant leak due to this...Anyone else?

Dumb question but have you checked the valve covers are tight? My passenger side one was a bit loose. Tightened up the bolts and no more problems.

P.S. I see U R in Seattle, I am in Vancouver, Wa. I own a 97 Centre Edition. How many miles do you have on yours. Do you have any problems with your rear view mirror. I recieved a free replacement from Magna Donnelly. I was just about to buy a new one and they run $300. I guess some of them were defective. Thought I would pass that vauable info on to you. It saved me $300. Have a good one.

What is a Centre Edition? I have a 97 SD with around 85000 miles on it. I have heard that the rearview does tend to go bad in some instances, thanks for the tip.

JK

PS: I believe the rocker covers are suppose to be bolted down to a torque rating of 8 Nm. I think that is about 71 lb's, someone please step in if I am wrong. I don't have my manual in front of me.

I am new at this. A guy at work is helping me word the problems I have so they make sence to those out there who know the language. Well, for your first question. Centre Edition...truthfully, I am not sure. A friend of mine said it was because it came with the running boards, duel moon roofs, bumper guards, leather interior, heated seats and a few other little extras. Oh yea, it also has a 4 inch or so trim around the wheel wells that extend along the side on both doors and over the other wheel. Whatever, thats all I can think of. Maybe a little fancier?? Anyway I have'nt seen any with that trim.
Now what are rocker covers???? Is that something pertaining to my problem with the leak??
