she who must be obeyed and i bought a house in a really rural town in central ohio back in march of this year. small town, quiet, easy access, good property values. we bought a house that was built in 1909 and the previous owners dumped some big cash and 15 years and well it was perfect. we love the place. we recently finished a nice privacy fence for our dogs and was livin fat dumb and happy. a month ago our next door neighbor hangs this antenna aray about the size of a semi truck of a friggin 40 foot tower. this really whizzed me cause there is nothing more TP than a bunch of antennas. he now has three. this i could learn to live with. now the issue, every time he keys the mike he nearly wipes my DTV completely out. it bleeds over on the BOSE and there is nothing that can end the "mood" than to have the romantic tunes squashed by a "breaker breaker". anyways short of punching him in the nose anyone offer a fliter that i can put somewhere that will stop his voice from runing the few times that....

Have you talked to your neighbor about the interference? If he is a licensed amatuer radio operator, he should be extremely sensitive to causing noise like that on a neighbors entertainment system. He should help you minimize the problem at his end, and if that doesn't fix it, help you select the specific filters you need for the frequencies he is operating on.

If you have done that, and got no satisfaction, you may have legal recourse via the FCC.

As a first step, Talk to him about it. If the person is a licenced amature he/she are obligated by law to stop any interference they are causing.
Intentional interference is frowned upon by the FCC and it is usually strictly enforced

Next thing to do is to go to this site,

http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/club/clubsearch.phtml?section=OH&selsect=Show+c lubs+in+selected+ARRL+section

and find the club listing closest to you and contact them. It is in their best interest to hlep you out by "self policing" the radio community, also they will have the apropriate equipment and proceedures to document the activity and report it to the FCC.

Remember that your TV, etc., are by FCC decree (1) not to cause interference and (2) subject to interference.

Now, your neighbor should be a decent enough person to realize he needs to turn down the wattage a bit when he's talking to Croatia or where ever...I'd just talk to him.

Just to throw in a thought, your neighbor more than likely is not a hamm radio operator. He is running a over powered every day CB radio with a linear amplifer. He also propably doesn't care what you think about the noise he is making on your TV or Radio.

Three things that can be done though:

1. Talk as politely as possible to him (propably will not work)
2. Go to Radio Shack (can't remember the tech term, but it is for RF interference on TV's and Radios) buy as many as needed.
3. Call the FCC and complain that your neighbor is running a CB with a Linear and you want to know how to get him to stop. (probably wont work either, because its the government and they would accually have to do something).

Sorry to hear about you issue.

How large is the tower? Could be he needed a building permit to set it up.

Just a thought...
