I wish companies like Currie made bumpers/tire carriers, Ox made lockers, and we had more mainstream companies making suspensions. It seems like everything is geared towards Jeep. When I read 4wheel&sportUtility, it is mainly just jeep stuff with tons of companies offering all this good shit for Jeeps. Whats the deal with the aftermarket?

1994- 4033 Disco's imported to US
95- 10552
96- 17700
97- 14545
98- 11890
so on and so on....
Now, imagine how many of those owners are willing to mod out their disco's with products from
Currie/Ox etc...
not enough market...
That's why

I dont see much difference with Rovers then say Suzuki or Toyota. It seems like they have a big aftermarket as well.

Smitty,

I used to feel the same way. But recently, I've taken a good look at the aftermarket parts from some of these "mainstream" manufacturers. Half of it is crap. The OX locker is pretty good, but the Detroit and the ARB are excellent. If you want other choices try KAM, Maxi-Drive, or McNamara.

Bumpers can be had from ARB, Safari Gard, Rockware, TJM, and David Bowyer. All of them are quality.

Overall, the LR suppliers who are making stuff for us are making quality gear. Some might be better than the others, but all of it is pretty good stuff. How often have you seen Suzuki, or Toyota or Jeep aftermarket break or bend up on the trail.

I agree Perone, it's just frustrating when you see all this stuff in the mags, on the trails, and in the stores for Jeeps.

Well,

Maybe you ought to change what you're reading! I never see stuff for jeeps in LRM, LRW, LRO, or LRE. If you read jeep oriented magazines, what do you think you're going to see?

on a side note, you guys ever notice the stares a group of rovers get? i remember the first time i went out with a group of friends, we had to stop at toll booth and the look on everyone's faces kinda stopped me cold in my tracks. there's so many other brands out there lifted sky high, it just amazed me that 3 disco's with 2" of lift and 32's could slow traffic.

And, don't forget that your average Jeep Wranger buyer is only investing on average half or less into the base vehicle than the Disco driver. I mean, I probably could have bought 2 wranglers and modded them for what my stock 2001 DII costs, but after I was finished they would still be wranglers and jeeps. Ya know? :)
