There are some advantanges, however there are also some definite disadvantages as well, even beyond the considerable cost. I've toyed with the idea on several occasions, but always manage to find something more worthwhile to spend my money on.

What were you thinking of trying?

The shock mounts are not made to take the weight of the whole chassis. Shocks just dampen the springs movements.

You would have to be one heck of a good metal fabricator to build coil over mounts. This would be best left to totally custom trucks, not Range Rovers.

here's what i was thinking...my ome springs have lost some of there height...i would like a little more frame height plus extended length shocks...spring spacers seem to be in the $325.00 range and i would need new shocks as well $$$ plus the installation cost $$$...so why not keep the ome springs and add coil over shocks for the proper height? wouldnt this give me all of the things i was looking for? plus, not put the stress on the mounts mr. smith mentioned? or is this just a "wild hair"?

wild hair. the point of the coil over is to replace the spring and shock into one integrated unit that has lots of travel etc. etc. Why have a coil with a coilover, wouldnt that defeat the purpose? and spacer for 325? I am gonna bet you could get a new set of springs for that give or take a few greenbacks. FWIW

Why dont you just get some new, taller springs or combine that with a 2" body lift from RTE - thats what I did when faced with the same issues you're facing...I am very pleased with the whole thing. I think if your springs are old and starting to sag, spacers are a bad idea - I dont think they are intended to bolster bad springs. Another thing a friend pointed out to me about the spacers is, why buy them at all? Its not like you're going to take them out before off road trips so what's the point of spacers vs taller, heavier springs?
