My drivers side mirror is loose. I have tried to tighten it 2x so its not the connection to the vehicle is the actual mirror. Can the unit be opened to tighten the mirror. During my 5 minute inspection after I removed it from my Rover I could not figure it out.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Steve,
Do you mean the mirror itself is loose in its housing? The mirror should pop out if you pry it from the outside edge. It is held in by 4 clips, if those are broken your mirror will be loose and need replacing. mirrors
See the right one, NOT the left one which was epoxied onto the base.

Thanks Peter! I am going to pop it out to see if one of the clips was broken or loose - great pictures btw! Thanks again!

PS - if I pop it out will I break the clips? Also is the replacement of the mirror a dealer ordered item or is there a better place to order from?

Again thanks a ton - from a new Rover owner who is loving his purchase.

Steve,
It *shouldn't* break the clips (white ones on the circle) as this is the instructions for replacement from the shop manual. Use a screw driver, be gentle.
You can get them used, although the one on the left in the photo was such a purchase. The place I bought it from, www.northwestparts.com, promptly sent me a replacement no questions asked. I've also had some luck with roversland.com which mainly sells on eBay. They part out a number of cars and can probably locate something for you at less than dealer cost.

good luck!

Peter - I poped it out (didnt break :-) When you say "clips" do you mean the white clips that actually "move" the mirror? I'll take a pic of it tonight trying to pay close attention to the area I am talking about.

Also - would those be replaceable? How much was the mirror you bought from northwestparts.com maybe it would just be easier to go that route. Thanks again!

Steve
