See that.....Junkyard Wars and Monster Garage can be used as an educational tool. Mcguyer couldn't touch that.

lol,
What's impressive is the fact that its a 51 Chevy and its in pretty decent shape all things considered. Its a shame they didn't make it to the beach, they could have taken the propeller off the driveshaft, reconnected it and just driven on into Miami...
8 mph isn't too bad for something with lines like that.
I wonder if they incorporated the self-sealing airbox from the 03 Rangie in case they got into some swells...

Man that's crazy, I not up on Cuban / American relations, but I hope that soon we can go back there, smoke good cigars have a few Margaritas. Too bad for the Cubans living under those conditions. I think it's interesting to see contempory photos of Cuba and they are still driving 50's cars. I have several photos of my Great Grandparents in Cuba during the 40's. They used to go every year.

Awesome. I'd say let them in, they deserve it for being that creative.

Reminds me of something I saw on TV earlier this week. A prototype RV that is amphibious. Drive it into the water and instant houseboat. A bargain too at a little over $1 million.

What? no snorkle, those posuers ... :-)

I agree let them in, they sound like they are hard workers to build something like that and with that top speed they sound inventive too. What happened to the chevy in the end? Did the USN torpedo it?

what's dumb about it is those flashy bright-ass colors that they used on the truck. Not that it made a big difference but the colors are just screaming "Hey look at us!!!"

Andy, I believe the photos (at least the second one) were taken with the Coast Guard guys behind the wheel.

I'd love a trip to Cuba myself, when the climate is more permissive.

Too bad about that truck. If the Coasties didn't send it to the bottom, it would be nothing but a pile of rust within a year.

I was kidding, but do you think they drove it to shore or sunk it? I noticed the pfd's.

Glenn, I don't think there's anything dumb there. It must have been their regular farm truck, and they threw up a canopy to keep themselves from becoming beef jerky.

B) "Black is out, beige new fashion color -S/M monthly"
C) "Potato becomes Couch Man"

And Axles have no balls, gears and pinions maybe.... :-) :-) :-)
Oops, that should be posted in the tech section. :-) :-) :-)

FYI
Back in the late 60's, and it made a full page in Sports Illustrated, a couple of guys, I think they were Italian crossed the Adriatic to Yugoslavia in a VW Beetle. This was when VW was toting the Beetles' air tightness. The VW crew did cheat by welding the passenger compartment to ensure watertightness.
