Hi All, I have a couple of questions on my 97 Disco SE. (1) I have a oil leak that seems to be somewhere above the oil filter housing. Initially I thought it was the oil cooler lines but after closer inspection (after a good cleaning), I don't think the oil cooler line is leaking. The leak seems to come from somewhere above the oil filter housing. Any ideas on what could be leaking? (2) The Rancho shocks that I have on the vehicle with the RTE 2" suspension are USELESS. I am not sure if the shocks are dead or they do not have the right valving but the truck drives like a pogo stick after really small bumps on the road. If I go over a speed bump, I almost have to stop to control the bouncing. I have not used the truck in a while and am now thinking of getting it back on the road/trails regularly. I am thinking of Bilsteins as most (>90%) of my driving is on roads. Any suggestions on what shocks/valving to use? Thanks. Jay. |

The reason for the oil leaks is so you know you have oil in the engine. This is the answer I was given when I purchased my '95 D1, and it seems to be true for me... eddie |

Bump. Please help figure out the oil leak issue. I already changed the lower oil cooler line. Upon closer inspection, the oil seems to be leaking above the housing holding the oil filter & cooler lines. I could not track this down further due all kinds of hoses obstructing the area. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Jay.

Hi Jay I have the same oil leak and can not find the source yet I'll post if I find it. I have not been happy with Rancho. What shock do you have? The 9000's are adjustable so you might get away with a quick adjustment. Max |

Hi Max, I do have the Rancho 90XX series shock with the adjustments and I have tried levels 1 thru 5 with no improvements. Seems like the shocks are just dead. This is why I am planning to try the Bilsteins and wouldn't mind getting them custom-valved if it will help. I have given up on the Rancho crap. Just doesn't work for me. Jay. |

Jay I keep breaking the Rancho even with light offroading. I have ordered the Bilsteins and I am just waiting for them to come in. Good luck with the new shocks, you can't do any worse. Max |
