I heard that some of you out there have come up with a great solution for mounting transit slide locks, Power Tank Brackets, and even bolting down extra tie downs WITHOUT drilling holes in rover. From what I understand 1/2 to 3/4 in plywood has been used, with holes cut so that existing cargo tie down hooks can still be used, and that the plywood has been covered in carpet. Sounds like an awesome solution for mounting gear, directly to the plywood, no drilling necessary into the floor or sides! And it can be taken in and out as needed? Awesome! Is anyone who has done this willing to share plans? Thanks! Jamie |

Jaime- Plans are very simple: 1/2" plywood will suffice. Plan on an asymmetrical hexagonal shape that matches the border of the carpet in your rear cargo area. If you want to get fancy, you can follow the curve of the carpet around the backside of the rear wheel wells, but I did not do this. Spray adhesive (3M 77 works well) will work to secure your carpet. My preference is for beige indoor-outdoor carpet. you will need a 2" hole saw for the 4 factory cargo tie-downs. Once you have decided on your organizational layout, it is very easy to mark the carpet with a Sharpie and drill the holes you will need to bolt (not screw) your accessories down. You will also need to counter-sink the nuts so that they do not tear into the carpet once the plywood is laid down. I am currently away from my vehicle but I will take pics of my setup once it is convenient. http://www.expeditionexchange.com/grandcanyon/arizonavacation002.jpg http://www.expeditionexchange.com/grandcanyon/arizonavacation003.jpg |

I used 1/2" MDF and glued down carpet.

Thanks so much! I am going to take this thread over to my retired neighbor who does lots of wood work. I am pretty sure that he will be able to make the flooring for me. This should give me a good start to getting oganized!! That is all just the coolest idea - I am extremely impressed by your solutions!! Thanks again, Jamie |
