Hello, 2000 Discovery Series II w/ACE. Looking for feedback on switching out my 18" rims for 16" or even 17" in order to upgrade tire tread. Months ago, when I discussed this with the service guys at the dealership, they were all for it stating that it "shouldn't" create any problems with the ACE system. However, just today I was in there again and now they've changed their tune, stating they wouldn't recommend it and they don't know anyone who's done it. They still said they think it "shouldn't" create any problems and even if it does, the warranty would still cover it, but they don't recommend it. It seems since Ford took over, they've gone the safe route as they used to do custom work there like front bumper cut-offs, lifts, etc. They won't do those anymore... My fear is, I make the switch and should the ACE blow out, they'll change their tune and state that it's not covered under warranty since I caused the problem by switching out the wheels. Does anyone have experience with this? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. |

I've been running 16" wheels on my 1999 D2 with ACE for over 3 years now. And as Chris said, ACE is available with 16" wheels right from the showroom in other parts of the world. LRNA's marketing unit just thought it would be easier to upsell ACE when it came with 18" wheels. |
