I've seen too many fuel pumps geet flooded out, and its basically because there's a 1" gap between the tank and the access port under the carpet*. i.e. no seal at all, so water gets on top of the pump from beneath even if you're not flooded inside.

So I'm thinking of sealing the whole damn access port to the pump area (I mean the 1" gap), cutting of any way the water could get in other than through the interior carper area through the port. This make sense?

If anyones done this, please let me know if you found any issues, I'm worried about overheating the pump, and gas vapors getting into the cabin.

Dean

* By this I mean the top of the tank's fuel pump sits in the air, about an inch below the floor and access port. Consequently if you're in deeper than the floor level, your pump is under water.
