Why buy fake bead locks? Just a waste of money.

Also, realize that if you put bead locks on your Rovers, they will no longer be street legal. Check www.avalancheengineering.com/wheels.htm --those things are badass. I'm sure that they can make them fit the lug pattern.

Why don't you convert your current wheels to bead locks? Champion, OMF, Trailready, can convert your wheels (aluminum or steel) for around $175.

cause they arent road legal?? Fake locks are cheaper. I didnt think a Rover had enough reduction or power to break a bead even while aired down?? I am partial to the Allied Bead Locks.

Phillip, it doesnt take "reduction or power" to break a bead, even while aired down.

What experience do you have with Allied Beadlocks, Phillip?

none directly. I never said I had any experience with the allied or beadlocks for that matter, I just like em. Every person I know that owns bead locks either has them on a 4wd or race application where high power and torque are at thier disposal. Only bead I have broken was on a 4 wheeler. Since I never intend to need the use of a real beadlock in the offroad arena I dont plan on getting them. IMHO the Rover Clubhouse are good looking as far as fake locks are concerned. Think of it as a steel wheel with attitude.

Low air, skinny tire, not so skinny rim. Add rocks, a lot of vehicle weight on one wheel pushing on it's side, and perhaps some moisture. POP!

Or, brittle, cold tire, same circumstances. POP!

the only company the makes DOT approved bead locks is www.offroadonly.com and those aren't available yet. As far as legality, what are the chances a cop is going to pull out a wrench to check your beadlocks? I think it might be something to consider during your inspection. IMHO.

Strap on? DO the bead locks require a "rim job" in order to fasten them?
Curiously...

I suspect that a fake beadlock is less functional than a strap-on. However, I have never used either, so I can't say for sure

well i should have just take a picture of one. they have the look of a beadlocker, but not the funtion. there is a trim piece that runs along the outside of the edge of the rim that gives it that look. ususally a pretty color too and aluminum in this case.

Idealy, you need to get some Hummer rims, cut the centers, and rework them for the offset you want on the rover pattern. They are street leagal, DUAL locks, AND may have runflat. You'll need to run 16.5" tires though.
