Well I ended up shearing a bolt off of the spare tire carrier on the back, while removing the spare. I have been running around for about 3 weeks with my spare tire in the back, and nothing on the back, since I havnt had time to take the old carrier off and weld in a new bolt.

I'm starting to like the way it looks without that tire on the back. It looks different. One thing I had thought of doing was building a carrier for (2) 5 gallon jerry cans (water / fuel), and maybe leave some extra room to mount a high-lift jack.

This would bolt in place of the tire carrier, and I'd just leave the tire in the back of the rover. I still have room for my tire / tools in the back, since I'm pulling the jump seats out anyhow.

What are your opinions? I think it'd look different than the other ones I see driving around town.

yes a very good idea. cool in the sense that it is definitly different. and of coarse invented by you. excellent for the fact that now you have water and fuel as a spare, so in my opion, you should just get on with it and get it done. if its what you want an you have the tools then do it!" he who hasitates masterbates."

i don't like the idea of having fuel on the back of my truck like that. i would only consider that if it was only during trail usage. and even then you have lots of ways of making things go "BOOM".

I agree. That would be a VERY BAD day!! If you ever do that, I hope you will be a responsible driver and let anyone on the trail know about that so they at least have the option of not following you on the trail. Don't take it for granted that anyone would just recognize a fuel can. Jamie

I also agree. Fuel on the back is OK if they are only full off road and you drive resposably. Back into and tree or rock and ya never know.
On road is just crazy. I have thought about it myself but would leave the carrier empty until I am off road, not even on my way to a trail.

I would only put water in the water can, and leave the fuel empty for just that reason. The fuel would be filled up before hitting any trails.

I'm going to draw up a templet and hit my buddy up for what he would think it'd cost to make, not much I'd imagine.
