I was wondering if any one had or has this problem with a 2000 Discovery,at start up the abs would kick in and the brake pedle would jitter like the abs was working,no codes and no warning lights would stay on,the dealer put in a new modulator for the abs but it still made that noise at start up,has any one heard of this, and is it normal?

Its normal, mine does if for a second at start up. I think its just testing and knocking the dust off.

Mine does it as well. I also seem to remember a Volvo V70 wagon my wife had that did the same.

My 03 Disco does that as well. That's perfectly normal as it's just doing a diagnostic check upon every startup. Although it sounds scary, it gives me peace of mind that the Discovery is checking to make sure the brake and ABS system is functional before I put it in drive and start driving.

Hi June I just got it back from the dealer, they put a new abs ecu unit in and it still does the same. I guess it must be normal, thank the warranty for that one,but one would think that the dealer would say that it is normal?

My 1999 does it too. Dealer just checked the braking capacity and said it was perfect.
