My hood on the D1 has a problem staying shut at times. Which makes hwy travel interesting when the wind knocks it up. I can also place one hand at each corner and wiggle the hood causing it to pop up (sometimes I can't as sometimes it secures properly). This is another concern as far as theft/tampering. The PO was involved in a minor fender bender and I assume the hood must have gotten out of alignment. Looking into the 'female' receptor for the hood pin (for lack of a better description!) I noticed that the receptor is skewed to the left (passenger side) a bit. I also noticed two small screws on either side of the assembly. I have not yet gotten a manual for the truck, so I wanted to ask here first. But, if I removed these screws could I move the receptor hole over? Or am I going about this incorrectly? Any help/advice/comments appreciated.
Cheers (P.S. does the search function search the archives as well? I'm having troubles running searches). |

I removed the topside screws for that assembly that has the catch for the hood pin, repositioned it, and it works fine now. Mine was slightly off to the driver side and I just fiddled w/ it until it caught properly several times in a row. joe |

Pins are ugly. Especially on a disco. Get some penetrating lube and spray it all over the mechanism and into the cable. It sounds like the cable isn't comming back. My car did this when I first got it and after lubing the hell out of it it's fine |
