Did I hear correctly that JBS sold RTE and got out of the business?

Ya, Steve is taking over.
I heard he had alot to do with all of RTE
products designs. Steve answers calls and is always there. Heard John needed to relax for health reasons. Wish RTE and both of them luck!

Who is Steve? Every time I called I talked to John. Nothing on the RTEs website about it. As long as Steve continues the service RTE will be just fine. I hope JBS continues to go to events and offroads. Hope he did not go cold turkey on Rovers.

Hey Rob,

Mike Noe and I were up at RTE in March installing slimline bumpers and winches. From what I remember about the new guy, RTE is in good hands.

I actually spoke to Steve about this earlier today. Steve has been with Rovertym from the start, and is the guy who do all the fabrication. John is semiretired due to health reasons. According to Steve there was some talk about selling the business, but they decided to keep it in the family, so to speak. Steve is taking on a lot of the administrative tasks John used to do, which is why you are more likely to get him on the phone now instead of John. But John is still involved, allthough on a much lesser scale.

Axel is correct. John is still involved. When I heard the "rumors" last week, I emailed him and asked if he had sold RoverTym? Steve emailed me back that John is still involved and Steve is taking over more responsibilities. I received emails from John after that, and was glad to hear he is still around. His sliders were the first change I made on my rover. I think they are a great company, and very "customer friendly"! :-)

Well I suppose that none of you really thought of him saying that cause that is what he needs to say ? I am sure he if he sold it that the new guy wouldnt want the rumor getting out that John isnt in it any longer. He would then run the risk of losing customer base.. I heard it was sold from a pretty good source and John is pretty much piddling around with it now...They probably had to hire a dedicated guy for spring returns . . . . :-)

lol Kyle! Same here...I heard on pretty strong authority he sold it and got out alltogether. That's why I asked the q if the first place.

Of course you have to read between the lines. Steve isn't going to take on more responsibility without some form of compensation. He did tell me that he is the boss now, so anyone can put 2 and 2 together and read whatever you want into that. That doesn't necessarily mean that the product line or level of customer service will change, though. I am working with Steve on getting a rear bumper made for my truck right now, and I do not get the sense that the way Rovertym does business is changing at all. Steve is just as nice and helpful as John always was.

Gotta echo Axel's comments. My slimline was mis-constructed (wrong winch bottom plate) and to get the new one on Steve busted his butt to fab up the new one so I could get in there. Even though he had to hustle it, the fit and finish of the new one was better than the first one.

Talked with Steve a couple of time since, always the same helpful, straightforward attitude.

Well, when John put on my sliders almost 2 years ago, Steve was there to make the changes so they would fit (mine were the first for a DII).

So, even if Steve does own it, it's not like someone just walked in off the street and took over. No biggie if you ask me.

but, truth be told, I heard that those saggers were an anomoly from one bad batch of springs and Rovertym made good on it and took care of the customers, so everyone should be happy with their current RTE springs.

i just returned from a trip to new mexico for the week to find my sliders in the garage. i ordered from steve just before i left and found the call, the service, and the entire experience to be great...the only thing that would have been better would have been to found them installed on the truck one new mexican morning!

if you are reading this thread steve, good luck and thanks for the great service...

mike
