Here is a pic of my little mishap a few weeks ago. The only damage was a broken window and another new dent.

Yeah guys, that was an example of kind of bad driving. the truck was on 2 wheels for what seemed like forever, and it was just thinking which way to go and it decided to go on it's side.

The whole problem started when I took a bad line, the front end came up but i thought i could drive through it, then I changed my mind. When I let the front end settle back down my low side started sliding and i tried to get it in reverse to even things up but I didn't have time.

My front pass tire fell into a hole and away i went. here is a pic of right before it happened, when i first knew I was in trouble.

before tip

Here is the pic as I tried to correct in reverse.

yeah, it was a good thing that tree was there for me this past weekend. It was raining and the d2 slid into that same rut brian was in and started doing that same nasty wheelie. But...i'd already heard of Brian's incident so we winched him up. :-)

It's odd how some situations really don't look that bad at all but shit can still happen.

Hehe...Yes Chu....using the winch BEFORE falling over is a much more efficent use of time and energy.

family tip

Yup they were with me. It didn't even bother the boys but it kind of upset my wife. We had to off load everybody through the drivers side window. That was a bit interesting.

We are going to do Holly Cross next weekend if you want to go.

The spring creek trip was spur of the moment with Leonard and we met up with an old friend of mine that was camping up there.

Spring Creek yes, Holy Cross...i don't think so.

Does'nt suprise me the boys had no problems with it, they sleep through anything.

Man you push your luck with your wife. She is a patiant women!! Well shit happens, at least you had only minor damage. I got some minor car damage last time I went out..minors no big deal, major or lots of $$ is a different story.

Brian, you're an animal!

"What did you do this weekend children?"

"Oh, nothing much, we rolled over in daddy's truck again, had to climb out through the window."

Priceless :-)

I think spring creek is probably harder than Holy Cross......there is a very difficult boulder feild at the end of the trail that can cause some real damage.

Brian, I don't know what to think. I here one thing and read another about trails off of 4X4trails.org and others. Everywhere I read, Holy Cross is rated higher. From what I hear, I could do Spring Creek but Hily Cross sounds more dangerous.

The thing about Holly Cross is that there are bypasses and optional areas. I know you could make it to the French Creek and that is about 3/4 of the trail. Beyond the creek would be a bit difficult but could be done to the city. Holly Cross has a few areas that a vehicle could roll but there are not any drop offs.

Brian,

Looks like a great trip.

Leaving the springs at 7:30 and meeting up with Alec (h2) in Leadville. He will probably be the very first h2 to tackle Holly Cross. Everyone should come along. Drop me a call

Whoops, missed ya. I told you I would be hiking more than wheeling this summer. Went down and organized the camp a bit better and hiked this nasty one. 40 miles of dirt road (~one mile vertical), 2.5 miles of easy trail (800' verticl) and 1.0 miles of talus and scree with 1800' vertical. My legs were rubber yesterday and planks today.

Hope you and Eric had fun, how did it go?
