I know that many of the dweb Disco owners are not fans of air suspensions, but durability for offroad purposes aside, are there any companies that make an air suspension kit for the front of the Disco II? I have SLS on my '99 and was curious if someone made a sort of "matching kit" for the front? I would like to have a completely adjustable air suspension at all four corners that would enable me to run one set of tires on the street, and a larger set (taller and wider) set while I am offroad. Potential drawbacks to a set up could be durability/dependability, swapping in a larger compressor under the hood, and speedometer calibration issues, etc. Also, with a set up that adjusts that much and that often, what has to be done in order to compensate for changing pinion angles? I don't think I am pipe dreaming here, as this is something that the upscale Rnagies do, I just wanted to know how feasable an upgraded version for a Disco II would be. Any thoughts, suggestions, or comments would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Luke

I believe Firestone makes kits and have a good reputation. Also, you probably could adapt the RR springs/plumbing with an aftermarket compressor. The DII and RR axles are otherwise the same.

The RR and D2 axles are the same? That's news to me.

There is an outfit in the UK which does full air suspension kits for Defenders and, I think, Discos as well. The UK mags all had articles about this place a couple of months ago. If I can dig them up, I'll find the name but can't recall it right now and here at work.

Luke,

Depending on how often you go offroad, changing a set of 5 wheels soon becomes a royal PITA!

Bill,
I saw the article as well, the guy had a tricked out D90 with bags all the way around. He was doing some interesting things while in a ditch, showing how practical a "bag" set up could be. I was hoping that someone over here may have done something similar.

Dean,
Changing tires might be a PITA, but it would be nice to have the option of running a larger rim/smaller sidewall tire package while on the street, yet still maintain the ability to run my 265/75 MT's on the trail when I go (which is rare).

Thanks,
Luke
