Ok - I knew better, but I did it anyway. I went off-road with running boards. This is my first official damage due to off-roading. Now that that's out of the way - and I can't seem to sell it, I think it's time for some mods. I know the wife will not be pleased, so I've got to go about this in a carefully planned way. She already knows the tires are history (40k on goodyear AT's), so tires are my first stop.

Off with the running boards...and away we go...

Cut off the front air dam now too, Kenny...otherwise you'll leave that on a trail somewhere too!

:-)

Good luck and welcome to the club!

Take it off at home, you'll just leave LR Certified lens glass on the trail otherwise.

Take them off and sell them on ebay or here or something.

ok - I need clarification on "cut off" vs. "take off" - I'm guessing I will have to remove the brush guard first...and then what?

The fiberglass body piece that houses the factory foglights - isn't that one single piece that can be removed?

I've got the running boards off as of first thing this morning.

Well,

I guess I'll finish my saga here. I've removed everything except the washer fluid tank - that has to go as far as I can tell. I just want to find out how to either replace it or keep it working in some other way. It hangs too low and looks ridiculous. For now it's coming off.

I'll move my future questions to the tech forum...

Kenny there's a washer-relocation write-up in the tech section, its for a D2 if this helps.

Sound's like Kenny's Disco is D2 if the washer fluid tank is exposed and the air dam is fiberglass. The washer bottle is on the firewall on the D1. Dean's relocation writeup can be found here:

Thanks Axel,

I've been checking out that mod, it's pretty tight in there. I'm thinking about finding a smaller tank, maybe something generic instead of the factory one. I'll need to get the electricity back to the firewall, but that looked pretty straightforward.

Maybe a junkyard...
