It's too late now but I still want to know from ur you guys ur opinion.
I bought 8 BOSCH PLATINUM +4 SPARK PLUGS for a tune up I did and the mechanic (independent Atlantic British shop) said that he would never use those again as appose to the genuine spark plugs. So dummy me was convinced since he knows best. Before i bought those i read that they are higher end plugs than the original LR plugs so I bought those, BOSH. Was he right or should i have used those.
Ofcourse, they on ebay now and it seems like i'm going to lose quite a bit on them http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2425330540

I know some have had no problems with them. I have tried them and took them out after a week. I stuck with NGK v-power plugs. Seems to run much better for me. I kept fouling out the Bosch +4 plugs.

I have never had any luck with ANY plugs I put in it. I have tried Bosch +2 and +4's (which I just put in)
So far, no different than NGK or Autolite. All seem to foul and misfire.

And why didn't you just take them back to the store at which you bought them? Did you buy them on ebay?

At one time Bosch had a satisfaction guarantee on their plantinum plugs? I utilized it once.

I use NGK in everything and never have a problem. In fact I just changed the ones in my own Disco and after 20000km the gaps were still correct and they were so clean, I reckon I could have left them in. If your fowling plugs there is something wrong.

What do you pay for those Bosch Plt 4 plugs? $5.00? $6.00 each ? Times 8. That's $48.00. At some point you have to think of the return per dollar. I think I could find plugs at half the price that would yield me equal performance on the street.
Those Plt 4 plugs may be effective if your using a magneto ignition. But stock your better off with plugs that have tapered tips to expose more of the ignition kernel. You could also index your plugs, but you probably wouldn't notice any difference.

Out of curiosity, what's a magneto ignition?

Bosch +4 or any other platnium plug works great but no better than the OEM champions that are often found in the LR. the draw back to the Bosch is that when fouled they are toast, they tend not to clean themselves very well and this will lead to rough running as well as poor mileage. this error is often mis-diagnosis as something else and by the time you get done swapping out good electronic parts you end up with bad plugs. i found this to be true in motorcycles and cars. so IMHO save the cash for something else.

Bosch Platinum +4's are in and I haven't had a problem with my 98 Disco. Install was done about 9000 miles ago.

Champion 3322. Platinum plug for $1.50 each, and is as close as you can get to the LR-genuine dealer plug at a parts store.

I looked into the whole Bosch sparkplug thing and the only one I would think about buying is the regular Bosch Platinums. All this +2 and +4 is pure marketing hype. If there are tests then the performance gains are so minimal. So afer research I installed Champion Truck plugs #4404 on my 98 Disco @ 30K and at 60K maint interval I looked to replace them, but from the condition of the plug I just cleaned and regapped them. Unlles otherwise new ones will be installed at 90K maint interval.
