I have a 96 Disco w/ 122K miles and bought it a year ago. Over the year it has had a problem at highway speeds (50-70mph)when cruising it drops about 200 rpms or so on its own and then kicks back in to the original cruising speed. It often will do this numerous times in a row. I have just had new plugs, wires, and an O2 sensor put in. I also had a mass airflow sensor put in for this problem as well. It is still doing it. I thought it was solved last year but it reemerged in spring. It may only be a warm weather occurrence since it was absent fall and winter. It also does not seem to begin this until you are driving for at least about a half hour. The strangest thing is that it is intermittent, maybe once or twice a week or less. When the rpms drop out it rides rough with some shakes and will not respond to giving it gas until the resume part of the cycle kicks in. When it occurs each part of the cycle lasts about 5 sec or so. Any ideas. I hate to drop a nother 1K to not have it fixed. |

I had the same problem. Some suggested a fouled MAF or VSS. Mine turned out to be the VSS. I ordered mine from Nathan at www.discountrovers.com. |
