I'm having a problem with my fuel system. Nothing major, just the fact that I have no clue how much gas I really have in the tank. I replaced the fuel pump a few months ago, and ever since then it seems like my fuel tank shrunk. I'll be sitting a 1/2 a tank, and then when I fill it up to "full" it will only be about 7 or 8 gallons, max. Now, there's my other problem, before I replaced the pump, and I filled it up, the needle would be above the full mark. Now, the highest it will go is about 3/4 to 7/8ths mark. Is this a result of a different gauge on my fuel pump? (I bought the pump at the LR dealership) I ran the truck down to almost the empty mark today, and filled up until the gas pump stopped filling me up, and it was 14.5 gallons. I have a 22 gallon tank, so what gives. Anyone know how the fuel pump knows when to shut off? I tried to "overfill" it some, incase it was prematurely stopping, but the fuel pump would just shut itself off immediatly. Any input is appreciated. -Jared |

try pulling back the nozzel a little to give it more air. Depending on the nozzels used in your state this may work. |

I have that same problem on my 03 Disco, so you arn't alone. Try as Al suggested as pulling back the nozzle has solved that problem for me. Since i've been doing that, it now doesn't click off till it's completely full. |

I tried that, but I guess I didnt pull back all the way. I'll stop at the gas station and give it another try tomorrow. Thanks.

It also seems to differ from gas station to gas station depending on the size of the pump filler hose. I've noticed that i've had more trouble at Marathon stations as they appear to have thicker filler things, while the Shell stations seem to give me the least amount of trouble as they appear to have fairly narrow filler things. |

I've noticed the same thing about Shell - to the point where I sometimes overflow the tank! |

You guys are killing me!!!!!! You can push, pull, tug, jump up and down, wiggle, put your right arm in and your left arm out and shake it all about. The frigging sensor is out of calibration. For the love of god stop with the stupid, "just burp the air out" or "if I go to Billy Bob's Truck stop I can get another ounce in the tank". |
