I have a 97 SE - Black and live in Charlotte. The only things different from stock right now are D-Rings on the brushguard and Hella 4000's, but more to come. Anyways, i've seen a few discos around Charlotte that have quite a few mods, mostly a green one, a blue one, and a black one, and i was wondering who they were. I waved at the guy in the green one on colony road one day and he gave me a weird look....haha But anyways, just say what you have done to your truck if you live in charlotte, and maybe we can go wheeling sometime.

So Brad, are you going to the Uwharrie Safari this weekend, Lots of modified discos will be there, and plenty of stokers too...

Brad,

I might have been the green Disco you saw, though there is another one I've seen in town that never waves. If I gave you a weird look, I'm sorry, you probably caught me off-guard, it's not often another Disco waves around here. I'll make sure I wave next time.

Drop me a line if you ever want to meet up, I got a buddy with a nice Rangie, we plan to do alot of wheeling this summer.

Oh yea, and definatly go to the Uwharrie Safari, should be fun times.

Brad, I'm also in Charlotte. Well, Matthews really, but I work in the South Park area. Silver DSII. Look in my gallery. I'll be at the Safari Saturday. When are you guys leaving? I've never been and it would be nice to convoy with some folks.

P.S.- I wave at all Rovers. Makes my wife roll her eyes!

Greg, Jon, et al. I will be arriving at Uwharrie mid afternoon on Thursday. SO when you get in look me up. I will have a rental truck so I will be hard to miss. The guys (leslie, Jeff, Bob etc) will all be arriving Friday afternoon.

David, I look forward to meeting you since a Series rig will hopefully be in my near future (2-3 years).

My buddy and I, and possibly a few others (dunno yet) are convoying up there Friday afternoon, probably around 3 from the university, but if some others would like to convoy up there with us, we can arrange another spot to meet.
I'll find out what our exact plans are today, and post back.

-Jon

PS: David, I'll look for you when we get there Friday.

Alright, for anyone who'd like to convoy, we'll be leaving from UNCC around 3pm on Friday.
Heres where we'll be:
Going down 49 from 29, turn left onto Mallard Creek Church Road, take your first left into UNCC, then take your first right, and the next immediate right will be into the parking lot, and thats where we'll be. You'll be able to see us from Mallard Creek Church.

If you'd like to convoy with us up to Uwharrie drop me a line or post back here.
Lookin' forward to meeting everyone!

Brad,

I also live in Charlotte (SE area). I don't drive a modified disco, but I do drive (whenever it works) a modified Series 3. Yea, I see a few neat rovers around Charlotte, but most (not all) don't go off road. I don't know my Uhwarrie Safari plans yet, but I will be up there sometime. Hope to see others!!

hey Max, does your Series Rover have like orange netting in the back that is in large squares? I may have seen you around the Arboretum and/or Carmel area a few times. I am sorry to announce, however, that I won't be able to go to the Uwharrie Safari. My truck is getting a brand new paint job...wetsanding and all...all around. I got hit by that hailstorm that came through south Charlotte a feew weeks ago and now have 30 dents in the truck. Possibly over the summer we could all make a Uwharrie run or something. There is one legal place to go in Mathews, right by the railroad tracks...although it's really just mudding. I've also seen trails near Olympic High School that I have heard are legal. Anyone know anywhere else that's close to go wheeling? I'm going to start pulling all of the trim off. If anyone see's a black D1 w/ a brushguard, Hella 4000's and D-Rings on the bottom of the brushguard, wave or flash your lights at me. I'll always wave at modified Rovers.

Brad,
None of those places are "legal" to my knowlege, their just out of the way enough that no one sees you or cares that you go back there, so watch out when you go back there.
I've been back on that Matthews trail, because I was helping some highschool kids who got their Jeep stuck back there. Just a big mudhole really.
There is a really good spot out in the University, has some spots that are def not for stock vehicles.
Don't worry about the Safari, theres a group of use who will be going up to Uwharrie all the time this summer

Brad,

Orange netting!!?? No, that is not my truck. I do run a soft top (its green) with a tan paint job. Up front I have and ARB with 2 Pro Comp 8" 130 watters and 2 Piaa 960s. My winch will be here soon (it better be!). I do hang around the Arboretum area, but not on Carmel. Hmmmm, I wonder who that is that you are refering to.

As for the Matthews trail, I have seen it. It is back in the Habitat for Humanities subdivision. I have only seen the entrance, but every time I drive by, I just about drive in (even in my moms buick!!).

If your truck can't make it up to the safari, then bring another vehicle and come buy stuff! There is plenty of Rover goodies for you to get. I doubt my LR won't be running before that time, but I'm still going!!

The Matthews trail is definitely NOT legal. My neighbor's kid got pulled last weekend in his Wrangler.

Well, i won't be able to make it up there, i'll be stuck here taking off all the molding and mirrors and other good stuff that has to be removed for it to get painted. It's all part of the deal, so if i do this the whole thing gets painted and all dents removed. The Series Rover i've seen is that sea foam green color. Well i'm glad i found that out before i caught caught.

hey,
Well i saw a black D1 today, ARB bull bar, looked like it had a lift on it. Also had a white sticker in lower left of rear window. Adult waiting to pull into Olde Providence Elementary School on Rea road. Who was this? They still had stock tires. I drove by in a black D1
