Has anyone have any experience with these springs (http://www.northwestparts.com/NWP_SPRINGS.htm). I saw them on Northwestparts.com but am not sure how they compare with OME Springs. I have a RR4.0 w/ Coil Conversion and just bought 265/70r/16 tires and would like to add a few more inches between the tire and wheel arch. Thanks, RK |

400lbs is a HIGH spring rate. Bearmatch big blues are pretty cheap and are the softest (other than $G or genuine). They used to have a reputation for sagging but maybe that has changed. Looks like green monsters can be special ordered at a better spring rate though. RT may not be a bad option either. Gordo. |

I spoke with Northwestparts.com and was told they will be offering the Green Monster springs for the MKII RR in a few months. So far I have not seen a bad review of them and I would not want to risk the chance of sagging with the Bearmatch Big Blues. I think right now it will come down to OME and Green Monster although neither offer a spring designed for the MKII as of yet. |

That spring rate is higher than the HD Defender rates, probably because the lift is so high. You are looking at a serious modification and will need other mods to correct for caster and driveshaft angles. Are you really after that? Look for Disco II springs. They should fit because the axles are similar - but confirm. |

Rhett: Just put on my OME springs on my 96 RR (with motorcarsltd spring conversion kit). I put OME 761 medium duty springs in the front and 781 md/hd in the back. Got about 2.5" lift in the front and 3" in the rear versus the stock motorcars springs, the RR sits about 1" taller in the back, which is great since I carry alot of gear. This will easily clear the 265/75/16 MT's I plan on putting on next week. The Ride is excellent, but I will need to get longer shocks, because I have lost some down travel with the lift, I currently have the Bilsteins. You may not want that much lift, but if you want to use OME springs, thats about as little as you can get for right now for the P38 Range Rover. I will post some pics when I get the tires on, looks kinda funny right now with the stock 255/65/16 tires.

I can't wait to see it Alan. Please post your pics as soon as you can. I have a feeling the P38 RR will handle a lift with greater ease as compared to a Disco due to the range requirements of the air suspension. What are the spring rates of those OME springs? Right now with the Springs that came with the Atlantic British kit I can hardly carry 2 rear passengers and a full cooler. I really need a change to something taller because this is not what I want out of a Land Rover and I feel the springs that come with these kits should be a good deal stiffer. I need something with size and mass and just a big kick ass look all around. I will prolly stick with the Bilsteins for now since they are only 4 months old. Which shocks are you planning on replacing the bilsteins with? |

The OME 761 MD in front are 200 lbs and the rear 781 are 290 lbs, got them at EE, you could probably use 764 MD rear if you don't want the rear sitting a little higher than the front: http://www.expeditionexchange.com/ome/indexspringsmain.htm Yea, the stock springs in the motorcars conversion really sucked too, too soft, the OME's I have now are much better overall, the P38 handled the lift easily, no vibes at all speeds, handles great too, don't know what shocks I am going to replace with, not sure who makes a longer shock that will fit, have to do some research. The RR sits much higher now even with the stock tires, will be awsome with the new meats I plan to put one next week, here are some pics with the stock tires: http://f1.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/[email protected]/lst?.dir=/RR4.0+Lift+OME+761+781&.view=l |

Alan: I love those pics, can't wait to see it with the new meats on there. I am very tempted to place my order today with EE. I am planning a trip to GWNF, VA for labor day weekend and it would be really nice to test out the OME springs for the first time there. |

Thanks, let me know if are going to do it and I can give you some tips, really pretty easy to install, if you are installing them yourself. Like I said before, the fronts will be very limited in drop due to the shocks, won't get much down travel. I think the AB kit is very similar to the motorcars kit so you should get about the same amount of lift, I measured the stock springs when they were on the car, the front was 8.5" and the rear was 10", with the OME's it was 11" front and 13" rear, you might want to crawl under your RR and measure the springs, that way you can see about how much lift you will get with the OME's. I used passenger side OME springs from EE which are slightly shorter. Measure your front springs then minus 11" for approx. front lift height, measure rear springs minus 13" for approx. rear lift height. I will be heading to Colorado with Texas Rovers in Sep. can't afford new shocks right now, so I will make due with the Bilsteins, hopefully we won't be doing anything too hardcore. |

Did you have to extend your brake lines at all with the taller springs? |

No, we dropped the axle pretty low to install the springs, didn't use spring compressors, and the lines were okay, the Bilstein shocks will limit the travel way before the lines become a problem, with longer shocks I don't know, but probably close. The swaybar in the front will also limit travel before the lines get over extended. The stock lines seem pretty long, probably because the suspension was designed for extended height modes. Tips on installing the taller springs: Front: Get car up on jackstands, remove wheels, have a jack supporting pumpkin, remove bottom shock bolts, remove sway bar links (very important to remove, busted one when we put a bottle jack between frame and radius arm to move axle down). Lower axle as low as you can without overextending brake lines, install spring, we had to make more room to install the springs by using the bottle jack as mentioned above, could have probably put the spring in without the bottle jack though. Or you could use spring compressors Rear: Put car on jack stands, remove wheels, support axle with floor jack. Remove bottom shock bolts, unbolt the brake line bracket, the one located on the frame, not the axle, we did this so that we could lower the axle more to fit the springs. Fit springs. That was it, took us about 1.5 hours, real easy, just don't break the sway bar link like we did. Currently running without one sway bar link and the RR handles just as good, probably because of the stiffer springs. |

OK..My order has been placed with Great Basin Rovers. I ordered the 761 fronts and 781 rears as Alan did. I spoke with Expedition Exchange at first but they were out of the 761's and recommended Great Basin Rovers. I hope I will get them by friday as he said they would ship out today. I can't wait. |

Cool, let me know how it turns out, and if you have any problems let me know. Did Great Basin sell you the OME springs handed (both springs either LH or RH) it is important because they are slightly different in lenghts and you want the springs either both LH or RH. |

I got the matched DS (LH) springs for a bit more height. They said they are about 10mm taller than the PS and every little bit helps. I will keep you posted Alan. RK |

OK...Springs are in and look FANTASTIC! I can't wait to test them this weekend. I forgot about the sway links and busted one so I called Atlantic British and got one on it's way. I replaced one of them a couple of months back because it had broke and luckily the old one broke this time. I guess it was due for replacement anyway. All in all took me about 1.5-2 hours by myself. Did I mention I love the way it looks Once I get a hold of a camera I will post some pics. |

Rhett: Hold off on buying the links if you can, I just got a pair of JKS quick sway bar disconnects model 3100 for a Jeep GC for $110, and they will fit with a little reaming of the existing sway bar holes and they are also longer and adjustable, the stock links will be way to short with the lift and the existing links and shocks will limit your down travel as I had mentioned. Being a cheap bastard, this weekend I will be fabricating a bracket to move the front shock mount up and using the existing Bilsteins so that I will get back my down travel, and along with the JKS links, I should be in good shape. May lose some uptravel though. How much lift did you get? http://www.samsoffroad.com/samsoffroadsto/SwayBarDisconnects.htm

Alan: I just got your post and the Link has been sent already. I ordered the Hose kit and a new Belt as well at the same time. The link was only about $24 so it was pretty cheap compared to those disconnects. I will consider getting those JKS units but am not to sure about spending that much. I am going to do some shopping at the local hardware store to see if anything jumps out at me as an alternative. For the shocks I was reading some post on here about extending OME shocks. I will see if I can find it. |
