You were parked in the RV area, white d1 with full roof rack.

I meant to come over and say hello, but, um, I , uh, was too pre-occupied.

just wanted to see if it was a fellow dwebber

It wasn't me, but did you see a Red disco with Indiana Veterans plates? That was mine and it was up there.

More phishy friends! I am unable to do much any more with a family. After the big hiatus, I should be shot for not going NYE or this summer tour :-(.

When was your guy's first show? Mine was at UVA in Charlottesville in the Fall of 94. Sound sucked that night if memory serves. LOL.

104 Phish concerts? I have to agree with Garrett. I saw them in 94 or 95, and it was fun, but I can't imagine attending (and paying for) another 103 versions of basically the same thing. But then again, I'm severely antisocial...

Well, Yeh...Music is kinda an addiction I guess...freak or not, the music might sound the same to you, but every show is different in its own way. I dont even want to think about the $$ I have spent though, I am a live music guru. I even saw Vince Gill last week, and I dont own a SINGLE country album by anyone. Though I didnt love the music, he is a great entertainer, and talanted for sure.

sure, I have spent alot of money ( which I sometimes regret) but most of it was worth it.

Of course, now that I am a "real person" with a "real job" I cant tour anymore. It actually just makes it that much more special to go and listen to them

GP...Your calling me a freak? LOL...You must me looking in the mirror son!

They jam. They don't space out like phish but they jam. You just have to be at a good show.

I think I've seen Phish like maybe 25 times. Dave, 49 times.

Panic is on Leno tonight BTW. Watching it now.

I dont know sillybus

I would never in a million years put dave in the jam band" category. I enjoy daves music, and have been to many-a-show of his. I do agree that they are very talented, and have some kick ass shows. They just are not considered a Jam band. Also, I just think that you cant have a true jame band, with 10 thousand 13 year olds, who have put on thier nicest abercrombie and fitch outfit to go to a concert. Those would be the people walking out of a phish show, when they are 27 minuets into a space jam, as you put it.

The space out jams phish does, is kinda what defines them. Not many other bands today ( besides the dead and Almond Bros, that come to mind) go off on 35 min improv'd jams.

I guess categories can differ from person to person...I just have NEVER heard any true phan call dave a "jam band"

i can mellow out (or space out) to some nice Bella Fleck and the Flecktones though. never got into Phish. had to deal with thousands of smelly freaks for years while living in Vermont when all of them made their temporary homes the town of Burlington during their concerts. it was also their (Phish) home town. being a local up there the fans took their toll on me.
i just don't see you Josh hippied out with the rest of them. :-) that would be a site.

The best "jam" I've seen lately was Cachiato at Yoshi's in Oakland. Watching a bunch of aged, old-school jazz greats up there with a kid at the turntables is something. At the heart of it is that phat BVSC sound, but then the scratching and pitching starts and oh man! I've never been a huge improvisational jazz fan, but there's no arguing with it when it works.

Ohh, GP that makes me want move up to burlington so bad. You know its one of my fav cities ever. And to get a chance to see Trey and the other phishies walking around the town, would be quite nice.

Im no hippie, thats for sure. I Get along with everyone, thats for sure, but I am not one of those guys who has a skirt on, and is covered in mud. Its just not me.

Im the guy who showed up in the rover with the Big ass RV on the back, with a/c and a shower, LOL

I do, however, take part in hippie activities. I think its in my blood. Thanks dad!

yeh it is a great town. i miss it. green mountains to the east, adirondacks to the west, montreal to the north and more VT to the south. what could be better? great bars, restaurants, people and lots of great outdoor activities all over. i.e. sailing, mt. biking, skiing, xc skiing, hiking, etc. and a young town in general with most people having the same cool attitude about things. never hear a horn honk unless it's some Masshole or uptight Conn. prick with an attitude.
i have to get my ass up there soon. i love the late summer up there as well as Maine. tourists are bugging out and the cool nights are great with clear skies!! :-) oh there ya go....went and got me started.

Maybe they aren't "jammy" enough to still be considered a jam band. Its not important. The context I was using the term in was to imply that that is the style of music I listen to. DMB fits into the style of jam bands like BT, Widespread, Phish, Yonder Mountain, String Cheese, etc., etc. even if it only vaguely fits.

The "scenes" are a bit different. Yes the same vibes but more frat boys and 13 year olds than most other shows. FWIW, those 13 year olds were in diapers while I was attending my first dave shows. Its all good and I'm glad many people are being exposed to good music.

I'm guilty of contributing to the youngness of the crowd as well. The last show of the 2002 Winter tour, I took my son to see Dave who was 5 at the time. Nobody else seemed to mind.

Garrett - If you haven't had the opportunity, you should catch Bela on this classical tour he is on with Edgar Meyer (sp?). I saw the first show they did here in Easton in Jan. 2002 and was quite impressed. They are coming back here to do it again late in Sept. and I will definitely be attending. It was a great show.

OK steve
I gotcha, maybe i justr missunderstood what you meant by Jam Band. I listen to a TON of different music, so when I hear jam band, I think string cheese, MMW, almonds, phish, stash etc.

Your not guilty of the youngness of the crowd, i think that i was reffering to a different crowd all together. You know, parents dropping the teeny boppers off so they can hear Satelite, i dont know...just kinda bothers me. Now if I was GP, I would like the 13 year old....( oh wait, did I think that or say that?)

I'll admit that there are a bunch of youngun's there but I get my tickets through the "warehouse" so I usually get to sit with other long time fans and am not inundated with some chick singing Crash in my ear out of tune.

Anybody checking out Dave at Nissan or Va. Beach?

Sorta GP, they just grow on ya I guess. I certainly have complained about VT enough, but I am still here!

The band members of Phish are very cool indeed, "good shits" as we say. Very community minded and no big heads after an amazing amount of success.

I agree too, Burlington is great. We have had a plce down in Mount snow for years, so VT has been in my blood. It was allways a quick jump from Boston, but I really have allways loved burlington. I try to get up there a few times a year. Hit stowe ( yes Garrett....we still need a weekend there) and cruse down the streets in burlington, having a majic Hat #9 and getting a killer sandwich at the red onion.

GP...you come up here, and well take my truck up to burlington and meet up with tim, for some wheeling and beer. Now I know you cant pass that up, even if the wife doesnt wanna go this time!LOL

you busting on my Mountain Hardwear jacket? :-)

there really are not enough good beer companies out there making 40's anymore. i find them much easier to drink. you don't have to get up over and over to get those sissy 12 bottles/cans. and then when you are done you always have something to pee into. haha. kidding. well sorta.
i think things are starting to get a little more stable for me. i am hoping that having more rovers around me will do it.
