Hi, I remember reading that the Series II 1999/2000 did not have diff locks, but could be enable some how? And 2001/2002 was totally removed?

Could someone update me / give me some more advice on the above?

Thanks

I saw some guy on E-bay selling a kit, I think it was around $135. If I come across the ad I send it to you.

Cnewman

The early (1st half) 2001 discos do have the CDL stub as well. Do you have a disco or are you just buying one?

CNewman,

If you plan to go offroad to any degree, you better make SURE you get the CDL stub on the t-case. If in doubt ask someone to show you what to look for. You can't see it where it is, but on top of the transfer case there's an 8mm metric bolt stub, below that an oval shaped metal piece, (imagine 1/2" wide circle stretched out with flat sides maybe 1/4" long). You can reach it from the front top passenger side reaching backwards.

Post where you are located and someone may be able to show you.

Dean

There are several kits out there. Check out www.disco2.com for a few more options. Depending on what you like and your mechanical apptitude there is an option for everyone.

#1 Greg Davis option of installing a low cost direct link to the stud via the center console.

#2 Various electronic environmentally sealed solenoids.

#3 The Chris U. Kit which is a mechanical link accessible externally via the PS side of the truck.

Go to http://www.discoweb.org/search.htm and perform a thread title search for the last 365 days. All the links you need will result.

Very Good Al, I did forget about that option. That's were a wrecking yard or britishrecycling.com comes into play.

The 04 d2 will have a diff lock actuated by a cable rather than a linkage. This is currently installed on the disco eveywhere but the US. It will require the new style shifter to install on a early truck though. This was the design on the 03 TReK trucks and it works with very little effort. It feels kinda weird if your used to the D1 shifter.
