Has anyone attempted to disassemble the firmware in the EAS computer to understand the protocols??

This looks to be a Mot MC68HC705 microcontroller. I have access to an emulator for this processor here at work and was going to poke around a bit. Since things are slow at work, I figured I'd spend some time with the equipment.

If anyone has access to the "user" settings(sensor heights, fault registers,...) in the EAS, could you post them??

I'm ultimately interested in learning how to reset the EAS but wouldn't mind figuring it all out.

I'd love it if you can show me how to put the thing in "calibrate" mode so that I can change height sensors, etc.. Question is, will your emulator show a screen full of numbers only? As far as what exactly you're seeing I suspect you'll try to guess, right? I only remember this vaguely from my MicroP class in college, long, long time ago!

Email me and we can talk more if you want.

While I do not know the protocols myself I bet these folks do. The issue is that they want way too much money for their product.

"Rovacom Lite"

The difference in their product vs. other pc based obd-II systems is their adaptor box actually creates a web page that your pc interacts with. IMHO it is a bit silly but does I bet it makes their product support costs cheap.

What OBD-II connector are you going to use ?

The folks over at http://www.obd-2.com/ have a good rep and claim to be able to monitor P38 engine functions.

Any info/ progress you make on this is awesome, no matter how the user interface works!

Not sure where I'm going with this now. My suspension has been getting worse over the last week and I may have to switch to coils over the weekend(coil kit in a box in the garage).

BUT - I believe I have the equipment to get into this module and may still try to figure it all out.

Not sure how I would connect to a PC yet. Because this is a '95 Classic LWB, it's probably not the OBD-II connector although I haven't checked yet. I have the OBD-II connector and software for use in the Disco, but never checked the Rangie since I figured it was OBD-I.

I've found a newsgroups relating to the vehicle diags, but there's not much info on the protocols yet.

Of course I'll keep everyone posted. If I do swap out for coils, I'll need a "test subject" in the Philly area.

Jason.
