I stopped by my dealership yesterday and asked the techs if they had ever installed dual yellow tops in Disco. They haven't. For those of you that have done it, where do you fit the 2 batteries? I might have them install my safari snorkle next week - for some reason I thought that was going to free up enough space for 2nd optima?? (now I'm wondering where I came up with that idea?) I looked in tech section and also did a search, but I did not come up with anything. Appreciate any input. Thanks, Jamie |

http://www.aedofab.com/ hi jamie, mike aedo makes a tray for duelies and you can go to a marine supply place or an rv place to get a set-up to run the bateries together *or* to isolate one by a switch so that you have one that can run your accessories overnight and one to start you car in the morning... |

FWIW, I was just corresponding with Mike at Aedofab about this. I noticed Jamie, that your profile lists a D2. I wanted to do this in a D1 and he said "no way". The only way it could be done under the hood, according to him, was one on each side of the radiator. He did have some nice pics of another dual battery setup he did on a D1 that stuffed the batteries on their sides in the right side rear cubby (no jump-seats). It was trimmed out very nicely and covered in some hefty looking Plexiglas. I just wanted to post this info for anyone with a D1 looking for an alternative to mounting the second battery in front of the air intake. |

For D1, I've seen pics of a 2nd battery, with the air horn cut off the airbox. Another option might be to use the new smaller sized offerings of Optima as the secondary battery .. basically Honda size. |

I think on a DI or an RRC you'd either have to put one either side or go with a smaller battery like I did: http://www.landroverstuff.com/tech.htm Steve |

Thanks for the help. I spoke with someone yesterday who said to just buy an extra battery and stash it anywhere you can fit it. Then, when the first battery goes dead, you hook up the spare. Per the advice of another dweb member, I chose to order a (plug-in) Vector Voltmeter from bassproshops.com for $14.99. This will fit much better into my budget and my skill level Thanks again, Jamie |
