It's a constant noise, not too loud but you can tell it's not suppose to sound like that. It seems, almost sure, it's coming from one of the belt wheels (maybe the top one). I just feel like sprayin wd40 all of that shit but I hear thats not a good idea. Anyway, before i decide to take it in I wanna know if anyone has had this problem and/or knows what i should do. Had a whirring noise coming from mine as well (2000). They replaced the alternator drive belt under warranty. |

Check the idler pulley on the Rh side of the engine (LH if facing the engine from the front of the vehicle). It will be located below the alternator and below the belt tensioner. If the pulley is plastic this probably the source of your noise. LR has a revised pulley out, Part # PQR500060, that is made of metal. This is a VERY common fault. |
