Living in SoCal I tend to see these tires more than other parts of the country. These tires seem to be pretty good quality and have a great lug pattern (not unlike Michelin XZLs), plus you can get them in 235/85.

I'm always wary of things the prerunner crowd likes, but these look good.

thoughts?

from what i have seen/heard they are crap. typically in my neck of the woods (central PA) they are hanging off $500 worthless huge trucks. redneck tire of choice for sure in PA. never really heard anything good about them. did see a pair on a sweet D2 a few weeks back, but it was just a 'all show no go' truck.
too many other good choices out there to go with something like Mickeys.

That's interesting.
A lot of the pre runner types here drool over the "baja claw". A lot of trophy trucks run it and it cost about $400 a tire, but then again it's for racing not for rovers. Maybe just a different world.

The Mickey Claw is designed for extreme four wheeling where sidewall integrity is a necessity. Rock crawling and Bayou Cypress swamps come to mind. What size claws cost $400 each? The Claw is a great tire from what I have read and seen. I wanted to get a pair for my CJ-7 but they did not have the size I wanted in a Radial at the time. The M/T line is pretty good. I ran a set of Baha Belted HP's on a CJ-7 and achieved great longevity and good looks; I thought they looked good. Anyway, I have run M/T, Swamper, General Grabber, and Michelin. I was thoroughly impressed with the M/T's, unimpressed by the Swampers, and pleased with the economy of a General Grabber. I can't recommend the claw as something I have owned. I can say the set of Mickeys I owned held up quite well to very abusive conditions when I lived 30 miles from Canada. M/T bought rights to many of the Cepek tires. I am not sure what they have done, if anything, with the Cepek lineup. The Cepek line used to have one possible "flaw." They only used a two ply sidewall. The three ply sidewall, BFG for ex., is often considered tougher. One of the Cepek managers told me that the 3-ply was a necessity years ago due to inferior carcass designs and rubber compounds. These flaws were overcome with technology yet some mfr's kept the 3-ply for marketing purposes. Honestly, if you place a sharp rock against the sidewall and apply enough force the sidewall will lose every time. This is about all I know on the Cepek/MT lineup. If you would like a really good answer, you could write to Off-Road, 4-Wheel Drive and Sport Utility, or the like. Nearly every magazine published their wheel and tire specials within the last 3 months. Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Thanks for the help Lee.
The baja claw in 36 (the most common built pre runner size) is about 400. Luckily I'm not buying that tire or that size.

The DC/MT MCIIs are radial, so they may be a bit stronger.

I suppose if they were really great I'd seem them on every truck or at least heard more about them.
