Hello All, I replaced my stepper 2 weeks ago after having the error code for the 3rd time. Since replacing, the code has reset and the check engine light does not come on. My issue is that my truck now has stalled a couple of times and seems to be idling funny.... Is there any way to fix or adjust the idle myself???? Thank you very much, John

John
you need to set the base idle. Get the engine hot. find the base idle screw this is recessed into the top of the air plennum chamber near the throtle linkage. Now find the the hose that feeds air to the stepper and block it. Start engine and and adjust to give 650rpm. unblock the hose and your done. You may have have to rev it to get it to start and run when hose is blocked until the base idle is set.

If you do not use the stepper motor specifically designed for your ECU, then this is what happens. The replacement part has to be identical in every way, not just look the same.

With the LR stepper Motor and the base idle set at 550rpm, the engine should not stall or ever have to hunt for the correct idle speed. If it does, then something else is wrong.

Randall.
Your correct the factory setting is 550, but I always set them to 600-650 and I find you get less problems.
