Maybe CA could become a sovereign entity, this might be a good way to start...

on a completely different but similar subject. i have heard recently that while ruling on the recent gay rights issue the supreme court, that is the United States Supreme Court, used laws and judicial rulings from FOREIGN (country) courts to draw their conculsion. is it me or did everyone who has anything to do with the goverment completely lose their collective friggin minds.

Well Vicente Fox is definitely more of a leader than Gray Davis could ever hope to be...

For (I believe) the first time in recent history more people are moving out of California than moving here. With our incredible workers comp rates and mismanaged and fraudulent-ridden system, industry is moving away as fast as they can. The idiotic state legislature and their handling of the state budget crisis and political game playing is sickening. I met with two state senators and one assemblymember during the last 2 months and can't believe some of the finger-pointing going on...

Conan the Republican? The Governator? Hmmmm...

ya, whatever... Arianna couldn't even keep her husband satisfied, let alone run a state with the largest economy in the world! She is such a Hypocrite, between her limos, private jets, and 12,ooo sq. ft. crib, to have her bitch about SUV's and have PMSMBC and yes, even FOX, give her airtime is pathetic...

bottom line is, even if Conan wins (he will), putting the 'Peoples RepubliK of Kalifornia' back together considering the 38 billion shortfall will be a NIGHTMARE for anyone, including the TERMINATOR!!

Patrick, I don't think a $38B shortfall is that big of a deal. There's much more to come if the situation with power and water doesn't change - and Mr Davis hasn't done a thing to improve either. He doesn't even appear to have common sense or/and money to hire a smart adviser - what he's been doing since the beginning of his first term seems like a baby fish thrashing in a drying puddle.
While the Arnold's public image may be tainted by his screen character, I believe he could do better - at least, he would have an incentive to prove he's anything beyond Terminator, and money to implement it. I wish Riordan ran, but...

California has kind of been the laughing stock of the country since Reagan became governor. He turned out to be a prudent, progressive leader for the state. Arnold cannot do much worse. Now, the last I saw of Coleman, he was "detaining" some television producers / paparazzi by sitting on the hood of their car.

I'm thrilled to not be a part of this recent process. Good luck California.

I wouldn't say that about the state, Erik.
I've moved to California in 96 from Michigan - and only then realized how badly mismanaged the Great Lakes State and Motor City were. And when I lived in Michigan, my thoughts were "Thanks God I don't live in Indiana, Ohio, or New Jersey!"
(since then my list of states where I would not want to live expanded greatly, and CA is not in it).

the problem with NJ is that it is connected to PA. it's kinda like the zit on PA's ass. i wish it would fall off and sink into the Atlantic along with the whole NJ Devils team. :-) all my love Glenn. xxoo

PA ain't rotten man. :-) i live there and like it here. lived in NJ and actually moved to the Poconos and commuted to NJ for work. living in NJ made me an angry and hostile person.
now i am a much nicer, softer person. :-) like a Care Bear.
just dealt with too many punks in NJ. just didn't have much in common with the folks there i suppose.
the move to Vermont did me good.

C'mon guys, there's really nothing wrong with Jersey. Outside of the high car insurance cost, very high cost of living, the smell in Elizabeth/Newark, there's really not much too complain about [sarcasm]

Besides, where would the NJ Giants and NJ Jets play???

when i lived there we referred to "going to the bathroom" as "i am going to take a Jersey."
but to some degree you are right Glenn. i lived in Far Hills for a little while on a 700 acre horse farm. right next to the US Equestrian Headquarters and Tony Roma's (pizza dude) digs.
but like everyone use to say...."yah can't polish a turd!" :-)
