Depends where you live. Some countries did recall them. |

300tdis did have severe cam belt problems where the belt walked and started to rub agaist the cover. This caused it to wear and fail. Your engine was probably part of the affected batch but most I assume would have had the replacement parts installed by now. |

Hi Iain How many miles on your truck? Has it had a FULL LR dealer history? Was the belt changed at 72,000? I wish you luck as LR never helped anyone on this problem in the UK. Might just be down to fair wear and tear. Cambelts snapping due to wear is a similar problem but not really the same as the tensioner breaking. This is not really a big job as all that suffers are the valves and head. Try LR customer service, you might get a percentage of the bill met, but not if it was a non franchised dealer repair. thanks guys i am in Australia my truck has 185 000 kms full history and no proof that the belt has ever been replaced. the main problem was the problem occured at high speed thus bending all the push rods and damaging the rockers. |

Iain depending on the year there a number of retro fit kitts to fix them. Bent rods is the norm if shred a belt, easy to fix. The dealers won't pick up the tab now but may have if the car was under warrenty if you made enough noise about it( depending on the cars histroy and age). Southside in Brisbane did replaced my 5 speed box for free after the mainshaft problem occured and it was well out of the warrenty period however. |
