Every few months my check engine light comes on. Usually related to O2 sens. I have replaced all 4 and 1 again in last year. Today I tried to reset the check engine light by disconnecting the battery for 20 min+ and then reconnecting but the check engine light stayed on. Do I need to leave it disc. for a longer period? Is this the best way to accomplish what I want?

If you have OBD II (Some late 96 and newer), disconnecting the battery will not clear the light. You will need an OBD II reader.
Also, even if you clear the light, if you don't fix whatever is causing the problem, the light will just come on again anyway.

I find Many times when it is humid out for some reason o2 sensor code will appear. I have had continuous problems with o2 sensors failing but on most occasions if the light is cleared it will remain off for some time.

Is there a way to read the check engine code? How do you do it? Do you need a OB II? Check Engine Light just came on, but my disco is running great. What a bugger.

Any alternate way to clear the code other than disconnecting the battery, which obviously hasn't worked in this case. In the past the dealer has told me that the light came on for no apparent reason. Of course I have learned much more since visiting this site and in that instance I think the new o2 sensors were mere weeks from coming off warranty. Anyway I would like to clear the light and see how much time it takes for the light to come back on. We don't have and autozone in Ottawa or Ontario for that matter and the LR dealer always charges me to read the code and clear it. Anyone know any other spots in Ottawa or Ontario to read codes and clear other than dealer?

Jordan, depending on what OBDII reader you are using, it may show up as an O2 sensor when in reality it is the MAF sensor. (at least that is what a friend of mine has told me, "Land Rover Tech")

What is the price for an MAF sensor. Difficult to install?

I've read that this works!
Are you using an oil bath air filter? K&N type.
If mass air filter (MAF) is dirty you can clean it with electronic contact cleaner nonlubricating type. Allow to dry then reinstall.

Be careful lwith the MAF, if you touch it you may damage it. They ain't cheap. Also when you spray the cleaner on it, hold the can far away to lessen the force of the spray.

For the record, OBDII is the son of satan :D
